A late autumn rain storm just moved west. The Matanuska River in Southcentral Alaska was surrounded by golden leaves and fall colors. This broad valley, south of the Alaska Range, was golden.
The Alaska Range is a relatively narrow mountain range in the southcentral region of Alaska, from Lake Clark at its southwest end to the White River in Canada's Yukon Territory in the southeast. The highest mountain in North America, Denali, is in the Alaska Range. The heavy snowfall and cool temperatures help maintain a number of large glaciers in this exceptional range; The highest in the world outside of Asia and the Andes.
